During the reign of Alexandru Ioan Cuza, the first hospodar from Romania, Cotnari wine took part in an international contest for the first time. Thus, in Paris, Grasa de Cotnari was conferred the supreme distinction.
Over the years Grasa de Cotnari an many other wines from Cotnari have been awarded at national and international contests.
